How to Enroll as a Provider
 

If you have a love for children…  If you would enjoy making a difference in the lives of infants and toddlers…  If you are interested in positively impacting the early development of a child with special needs…  Then the First Steps program may be the perfect fit for you!  As a provider for First Steps, you have the opportunity to either work for an agency, or to work as an independent provider.  You can have the flexibility to work part-time, or full-time, depending on your needs and lifestyle.  Listed here are some resources that may be helpful as you decide to enroll as a provider of therapy services.

 

Program Overview - This document outlines current eligibility, types of available services, and program components.

 

First Steps Cluster Map - Listed in this document is a map of the nine First Steps regions through out the state and contact information for each corresponding area.

 

Personnel Guide - This document contains Information outlining the criteria and requirements set forth by the State of Indiana for individuals providing First Steps services. 

 

Service Definitions - This document describes each covered service area and allowable activities within each service area. 

 

Cluster G Agency List - This document contains a list of agencies in the Central Indiana region that are contracted with the state to provide First Steps services, and are a possibility for employment.  This is an option for providers that do not want to operate their own business, and would rather be employed by an agency who would be responsible for taxes, liability insurance, billing, etc.

 

Provider Billing Manuals - These documents list the current rates (reimbursed for 15 minute increments), EDS contact information, and other billing information. 

 

Provider Specialty Listing - This document lists the provider specialty codes needed for billing for services rendered.

 

Provider Enrollment Packet - This is the document that must be submitted to EDS (the contractor that handles billing and credentialing services).

 

Unified Training System (UTS) - Is the entity that offers the state’s mandatory  First Steps Provider Orientation for interested providers as well as other trainings for first Steps providers.
